| Contra Costa County Coroner Releases Statement May 29, 2003 Contra Costa County Sheriff's Coroner Warren Rupf has issued a statement clarifying his role in the alleged release of Conner Peterson's autopsy report to a national media outlet today. The reports have been sealed by a Stanislaus County Superior Court judge presiding over the case, and Rupf stressed the Sheriff's Office will not officially release the coroner's report until directed to do so by court order. "For this report to be leaked or released without court order is clearly irresponsible, if not illegal," Rupf said. "Any responsible media representative should question any information not released by me personally. Speculation or out of context discussion surrounding this case to include the coroner's report are unfair to the prosecution, defense and certainly to the family of Laci Peterson."
