Blood Drive Marks
Laci Peterson Anniversary

December 22, 2003

Wednesday will mark the one-year anniversary since Laci Peterson disappeared. This week,
her family is marking the anniversary with an effort that could help save the lives of others.

To commemorate the one-year anniversary of her disappearance, Laci's
family is encouraging Modesto residents to donate blood.

The blood drive got underway today at Beyer High School on Sylvan
Avenue in Modesto. t'll continue for the next two days.

Sharon Rocha, Laci Peterson's mother, welcomed donors today, including a number
of family friends. "I realize how important this is to Sharon," said Patty Amador.
"We're here to support her in remembrance of Laci and Conner."

Laci's loved ones have kicked off a three-day blood drive in Modesto to
honor her and
her unborn son. With blood supplies low this holiday season,
the Rocha family felt this was one way to give back to their community.

Many donors said they're coming in to support the family.

"Because you remember them and wish that they had a further life so she could
enjoy her child and the holidays," said blood donor Shelley Gorcuch.

"We're good friends with Ron and Sharon (Rocha), and this is a way we
can show our support for them," said blood donor Lisa Braden.
