| FRIENDS DECIDE TO NAME THEIR BOYS CONNER &CONNOR Kristen and Greg Reid talked about their feelings about Scott and their grief for Laci and her unborn baby boy that was to have the same name as their baby. "Just knowing that here we have a Connor, and they're missing a Conner out there... You know, you just don't like to think about the baby and what transpired," said Kristen Reid. Kristen and her husband, Greg, find it hard to think about Laci Peterson and her unborn baby boy, because as good friends, the couple did lamaze together. "We were all excited, all excited," she said. Greg said that they spent a lot of time talking together about the family that they all were about to start. "They were here in the house. We had a lamaze here and endless discussions of the family, figuring these two would be growing up together," Greg said. And the two couples both picked out the name Connor/Conner for their babies. "We talked about a few different names, but we both really liked it and we decided, you know, since they were going to be in different kindergarten classes it would be OK," Kristen said. And now, knowing that Conner Peterson will never get to see his first birthday is what torments the couple. "I just pray that the baby slipped away peacefully, not knowing--that's all we can ask for," Kristen said. Once staunch supporters of Scott Peterson, now that he's been charged with murdering his wife and child, they have their doubts. "It's hard to believe that we could have had someone like that in here and not suspected anything, you know. We're smart people and intuitive people. And we just would have never guessed that he was capable of something like that," Kristen said. The Reids remember the time that they brought their baby Connor over to the Peterson house, and how Laci immediately went over to the Reids' baby and took him in her arms. It is a terrible story for them to remember their friend in that way and what she will not get to experience. Greg thought he might try to go visit Scott Peterson in jail, because he's not convinced that he's guilty. Peterson remains in a maximum-security cell awaiting his trial.
