The emotion and anger she had was very moving and could sway potential jurors. Second, why would Scott Peterson now go with a public defender instead of sticking with the attorney he has been using? Nancy Grace: Defense WILL ASK FOR A VENUE CHANGE.... any lawyer in his/her right mind will ...but be careful what you ask my dear for you will surely get it.... Defense can't cherry pick the new venue. They could get an even more conservative venue.....think Simi valley! Watch LKL tonight guys and say a prayer for me......as to the PD, public defender, Scott Peterson says he's out of $ that's why he would want a pd. Pd's are actually usually pretty good trial lawyers because they are in court all the time but.... you may see a high profile defense attorney swoop in just for the p.r. Also, before he is eligible for a pd assets must be used.. (house, car, 10 grand he had on him.....) Question from Caesare_SPQR: Ms. Grace, let's face it, isn't highly unlikely that "swimming" will cause hair to turn from chestnut brown to blond? Do you feel that perhaps this was a disguise and that Scott Peterson was indeed a flight risk? (P.S. Love your show) Question from kiara: Why don't police take a sample of Scott's bleached hair to prove that it was not chlorine but some other chemical agent? Nancy Grace: hahahahaha! I know bleach let me tell you!!! and that is bleach! Listen...the police have already found the hairdresser in San Diego, I think it was, that dyed his hair.... he shouldn't have lied about it. Question from Wendy: Nancy, do you think since SP's parents are saying that he has been framed that it is making people second guess if he is guilty now? Nancy Grace: Yes! And by the way...I looked up those cases Mrs. Peterson referred to... and there is only one that is similar. It happened in '99 I think... a woman pregnant found in bay along with her 5 year old son....not that similar and the other case to which Mrs. P referred.... was a woman, pregnant, who disappeared and then returned! Saying she needed "time alone" then disappeared again.....not similar. I do not think there is a serial killer preying on pregnant women. There was one other where the pregnant woman was kidnapped, baby taken by home done cesarean.... but that perp killed herself after -- not connected. That took a lot of research! Question from mspingpongf: Nancy do you think Scott's parents really meant all the things they said about the police, or they were just lashing out? Nancy Grace: Both. Question from hoping: Nancy, would you advise Scott's parents to stay quiet? Nancy Grace: Definitely..... they are hemming him in on alibis and other matters that he may not want to be tied in to. They and he should really zip it....for his good. Question from tantre2: Nancy, do you think Scott will ask for a speedy trial before they can find the weights or prolong it for as long as he can? Nancy Grace: HELL NO! Sorry....I promised my boss, Marlene, I'd quit with the curse words. On the other hand, Westerfield did, and the sooner they rush to trial the less prepared the state will be. That would put trial within 6 months.... BUT the state is fairly ready.... That is something we all discussed right here! Remember, you asked why the delay in arrest? The answer is so that the state will be READY if and when SP files for a speedy trial. They did their work PRE- INDICTMENT, not post indictment. Question from ctv_warhorse2: Scott Peterson pleaded not guilty in the arraignment yesterday, can he change his plea anytime up until a jury gets the case? What steps does he have to do to change the plea? Nancy Grace: Yes...he can...he just needs a court appearance set on the calendar to arrange him to be transported from jail to courthouse BUT if the state is seeking the DP (death penalty) ..which I think they will.... he won't plead to that! It's not a race... where he can race to the podium and plea before the state announces.... they can announce for a period of time... his entering a plea should not change that right. Question from InvDSpicer: I am an investigator and from my training and experience suspects that have great support from their family (that they are innocent of the crime) will not confess. Scott Peterson's family has been very supportive of Scott and state that he is innocent. Do you feel he would ever confess to the crime? Nancy Grace: No way...you are dead on! He couldn't possibly admit it to his family....UNLESS he comes up with a scenario where it was an "accident." Question from my: Do you think he will get bail? Nancy Grace: No, I don't....I don't think he will MAKE bail. I think the D.A. will announce the dp -- very difficult to get bail under those circumstances, and even if he is given a bail amount by the judge he has declared indigence. Where would he get the $? Although.....his parents could put up bail and he maintain indigence status independent of them. Question from justdandy: Did Scott ever say why he had his brothers ID? Nancy Grace: He did. He said so the golf course where he was headed(while he thought the M.E. was in the midst of identifying his wife's remains) would not call the press. Nothing like a good game of golf while you are waiting for your wife and child to be ID'ed at the morgue....ask OJ. Question from kiara: Did Scott have his own ID as well as his brothers when arrested at Torrey Pines? Nancy Grace: Don't think he did. Question from NanaW: Nancy, what reason did Scott Peterson give for having all that money on him? No reason stated (or released) as of yet. Question from Demian: Have you ever seen a criminal def. make as many mistakes as Scott has? Nancy Grace: Plenty! Let's see.... Thomas Capano, Simpson, Blake! Sandy Murphy. But Peterson is at the top. Question from Laura-CTV: Nancy, has anybody other than Scott's parents publicly defended him and proclaim his innocence? Nancy Grace: Not yet....although I heard some of Laci's / Scott's friends yesterday on the air...I think MSNBC stating how "perfect" the marriage was and how Laci always wanted to be "center of attention"...and Scott didn't "mind".....kind of made me mad. Question from erin: Are Scott and Amber still in contact, and if so doesn't this put Amber in a suspicious light? Question from jo: Last night on LKL, you said that Scott had called Amber very recently. Why would she accept any calls from him? Is he confessing "undying" love? I would think she had already given him the big brush off?? Nancy Grace: Yes they are! As a matter of fact...in contact during the last two weeks....according to the NY Post headlines from Monday, they are bugged! She's cooperating! Question from snakelady: Did Scott go to college/university? Nancy Grace: Yes! That's where they met! He actually was on partial golf scholarship and left .... ended up at same college as Laci. They both have 4 yr degrees. Question from Trisha: Nancy...someone mentioned that Laci had assault in her past -- true? Nancy Grace: I heard a rumor she punched a girl that was flirting with her boyfriend....when they were teens...don't know if that is trueBUT if it is... it certainly proves she was not "OK" with it that SP having affair! I guess not! Question from Soccermom: Great to see you again, Nancy... Where did Scott murder her? and could it have been accidental? Nancy Grace: In the home, according to the police report of sp's arrest. Murder is not an accident. If had been accident....why not call 911 Question from Demian: hi Nancy, great to see you on LK last night, do you think they will seek the death penalty on Scott? Do you think they will get a change of venue? Nancy Grace: Will seek dp as complaint alleges special circumstances of double murder, will try for change of venue...may get it. Question from ctv_warhorse2: The PD for Scott is Tim Bazar do you know anything about him? Nancy Grace: Not yet...but I understand he has tried lots of cases. Question from joemagic: Nancy, to your knowledge, had Scott shown a dark side in the past few years before this evil deed? Nancy Grace: Not that we can tell...YET, but I speculate as to lots of womanizing Question from Saussay: Can his brother be held responsible for loaning him his ID? Nancy Grace: Probably not..Can say he didn't know...also...according to sp...it was to trick a golf club....and he hadn't used it yet...that we know of...so no harm no foul....that we know of. Question from kidsmom: What do think Scott's motive for murdering his wife and his son? Nancy Grace: Don't know yet....I'm betting simple motive like wanting to be free...not wanting marriage or kids or money problems...not wanting to 'let down" his family...to keep up appearances, much like rabbi Neulander Question from Major-Glory: Nancy, don't you think the media has gone a little too far with harassment of Scott? Nancy Gracy: No...I think that SP went too far when he killed his wife. Question from Nancy: The DA said on Good Morning America that there was substantial DIRECT evidence against SP. Does that mean there are eyewitnesses? What is direct evidence? Nancy Grace: DNA...most likely. Direct evidence is what you can see, hear, taste, smell. DNA is often considered direct evidence....although Iconsider it circumstantial. Remember...they also seized his computers...there could be direct evidence there. Question from Soccermom: If Scott got in a fight with Laci and killed her accidentally, tells all, would he get a deal or are they convinced it was premeditated? Nancy Grace: Premeditation can be formed in an instant. Mutual combat could be a defense, but it is no longer a defense when one exceeds necessary force for self defense. I do not think mortal force was necessary to fend off a 5 foot 8 months pregnant woman...do you? Question from mspingpongf: Nancy if you were still prosecuting cases,would you want a chance to prosecute sp? Nancy Grace: Yes. I want justice.
