Name: Alfred A. Delucchi


Born: May 27, 1931, in Oakland.

Education: J.D., Santa Clara University, 1960; B.S., same college, 1954.

Experience: Private law practice, Hayward, 1966-71; deputy district attorney,
Alameda County, 1961-66. Gov. Ronald Reagan appointed him to Municipal Court,
San Leandro-Hayward Judicial
District, on Nov. 4, 1971. Elevated to Superior Court in 1984. Retired in 1998.


Notable cases: Tyrone Robinson, Oakland gang member sentenced to 32 years to life in
the slaying of Black Panther Party co-founder Huey Newton; Giles Nadey, carpet cleaner
sentenced to death for sexually assaulting and killing a pastor's wife in Alameda;
Sarah Mitchell, sentenced to life in prison for killing her sister,
dismembering the body and putting it in a freezer in their Oakland home.


Attorney's comments: Prosecutors and defense attorneys called him an experienced,
fair judge. "He lets you try your case," said one defense attorney. Another called
him a "no-nonsense, take-care-of-business kind of guy. " A prosecutor said:
"I cannot see where any attorney would be unhappy going with Delucchi."
