| Surprise Help in Fresno Search for Laci March 20, 2003 Investigators searching for Laci Peterson spent today dragging the bottom of a Fresno County lake -- looking for clues. News 47 was with private investigators as they used infrared cameras along with a hi-tech G.P.S. system to search the waters. Investigator Bill Garcia explains, “First, we walked the edge of the water the reason being if there was something dislodged from anchor point. It would very easily float up the shore." Surprising to us, the family of Amber Frey helped with the search. You may recall, Amber Frey is the woman Scott Peterson was having an affair with when Laci vanished. Ava Frey, Amber’s sister explained why they were there. She told us, “We have reason to believe this would be a good area to look. So, they asked me to come along and see what we can do together." Ava, lives just a few blocks away from Scott Peterson in Modesto. Amber Frey has been cooperating with Modesto police. She stepped forward shortly after Laci disappeared to tell police Scott Peterson was her boyfriend. Frey is sticking with her story, saying she did not know Scott Peterson was married. Since the January press conference where she revealed her relationship with Scott Peterson, Amber Frey has been in contact with Laci's family -- to show her commitment and now her family’s desire to find Laci too. So far, the search has turned up few clues. Oh, and the birthdate 2-16-72. (Yeah, like sister like sister. If that's her bday, it's the *other* due date Scott tossed out as being Laci's--as opposed to the *real* one, which was Amber's BD!) She's 31, which I know from other records; was one of 6 candidates for "Mountain Belle" in 1987, sponsored by Sierra Telephone; and was married in 1998 to Raymond Theodore Arnold, same age. They both have separate phone listings in Fresno currently in their own names, but for the life of me, I can't find anything showing that either or both of them live in Modesto.It's also driving me nutz that I can't figure out who Ava Frey's mother is (Ron Frey keeps referring to her), assuming she isn't Amber's mother--which I'm pretty sure she's not--and where either one of them actually lives in Modesto. Amber's mom is re-married and living in Fresno, from what I can tell. Of course, all of these things can change on a moment's notice and I can be very wrong very often.
