| Geragos Goes On Attack Over Juror
March 30, 2004 Defense Attorney Mark Geragos delivered a blistering attack Tuesday on a potential juror in the Scott Peterson murder trial, accusing her of committing perjury in an attempt to get on the jury. The potential juror, a retired municipal secretary from Redwood City, appeared unruffled as she steadfastly denied the charge under oath. She allegedly told a number of people from her senior center that she was going to get on the Peterson jury, become the foreperson and ensure Peterson "was going to get what's due him," according to Geragos. "Did you ever say that he was guilty as hell," Geragos asked the woman. The woman denied saying that and denied she had any plan to lie to get on the jury. Superior Court Judge Alfred Delucchi ordered the woman to return May 11. After the woman stepped outside the courtroom, Geragos told Judge Alfred Delucchi that his law office had received a call on Friday from a man who claims to have been on the senior center's bus trip to Reno with the potential juror when she allegedly made the statements about Peterson's guilt and her plan to get on the jury. The man was interviewed by one of Geragos' associates Shepard Kopp, the son of retired San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Quentin Kopp. Delucchi ordered the man subpoenaed to testify under oath about his claims. The man was scheduled to testify on May 10 and the potential juror was scheduled to return to court the next day at which time she could be excused depending on how credible Delucchi finds the man.
