HOWARD BREUER, THE NEW YORK POST:  We hear that he had on him $50,000,
his
brother's ID and an application for a passport made out in his brother's name.
We're hearing that Scott's own passport had already been confiscated by authorities.

VAN SUSTEREN:  All right, you said $50,000.  Do you mean $50,000 or $10,000?
Because I've also heard $10,000.

BREUER:  Right.  Yes, $10,000 would be correct.

VAN SUSTEREN:  All right.  Now, in terms of having his brother's identification,
do you know if his brother at all resembles him, whether or not, for instance,
he had a goatee or not or whether his hair is a
blondish color?

BREUER:  One of the things I've been trying to confirm.  I do hear from some
people that he does look a lot like the brother whose ID he had.

VAN SUSTEREN:  And did the police report at all -- did they think he was going
to play golf or that he was trying to run?

BREUER:  Well, what we're hearing is that he actually had -- might have already
had played golf that day, that his father had made reservations for an 8:00 AM tee
time, and that he
was arrested possibly upon leaving the golf course, and that
there was a fear that he
could run.  As you know, once you get down to Mexico,
they don't extradite fugitives who are facing the death penalty.

VAN SUSTEREN:  All right.  And at that point, though, of course, he had not been --
at least as far as you know, an arrest
warrant had been issued, but he had not been
formally charged.
Kate, what is the story on the blond -- on the fact that he
changed the coloring of his hair and also the goatee?

KATE SHEEHY, THE NEW YORK POST:  Well, Greta, he had told police that it had
dyed -- it had dyed
from chlorine in a pool, a neighbor's pool that he had been swimming
in a lot recently.
He denied dyeing it.  However, the authorities say -- sources say that
he --
he, in fact, went to a hair stylist in San Diego, where his parents live, and that
she dyed it just a few days before he was arrested.

VAN SUSTEREN:  And do you -- and a few days before he was arrested -- his infant
son was found on Sunday.  His wife was found on Monday.  The arrest warrant issued
Thursday.  He was arrested Friday.  Was it in that window, since the time the bodies
were discovered, that he changed the color of his hair and his goatee?

SHEEHY:  That's right.  They believe it was Tuesday or Wednesday, in fact.

VAN SUSTEREN:  All right, Howard, December 23, a phone call from
Amber Frey,
the girlfriend.  Can you tell us the details?

BREUER:  Well, we don't know the details of the call.  There's speculation that that
might have set off a heavy argument between Scott and Laci.  The big question is
whether that will help the case or hurt the case.  Even if people believe that Scott
is guilty of killing Laci, one could speculate that the killing occurred in the heat of
passion.  It would not necessarily merit a first-degree verdict of
premeditated murder.

VAN SUSTEREN:  And of course, at this point, we don't know that, but I guess that's
what a
trial is for, as well as Amber Frey will have her opportunity to come forward
and
testify.  Kate, fishing -- did he go fishing on the 24th?  What's the evidence looking
in favor that he actually did go fishing, and what suggests did he not go fishing?

SHEEHY:  He says he went fishing.  He says that he took out the boat in that area,
about three miles from where the bodies were found.  The authorities say that they
have found
concrete filings at the bottom of his aluminum boat, and they're even
suggesting that he possibly fashioned anchors out of concrete to weigh Laci's body
down.  They also had found drums of concrete behind his home for which he apparently
has not been able to give them a reasonable explanation of why he had them there.

VAN SUSTEREN:  Do you know, Kate, if they went through the engine on the boat to
see whether or not there was salt water, for instance, in there, or any water in the boat,
anything to suggest that it had been used recently?

SHEEHY:  There have been differing reports.  According to some reports, sources -- they
say they found no evidence that he had been in the water that day.  They did find some
very detailed charts on the tides in that bay area, and the police were very interested in
them.  They apparently -- Scott apparently had downloaded them from the Internet, and
they were found on his home computer.

VAN SUSTEREN:  Did people know he had the boat?  I know there's been some discussion
whether, you know, he had just purchased the boat or whether his family even
knew he had the boat.

SHEEHY:  I don't know.

VAN SUSTEREN:  Do you know anything about that, Howard?  About the boat.

BREUER:  I haven't heard whether he owned the boat, only that people didn't really know
that he had a boat before this happened.  They had never seen him with a boat before.
SHEEHY:  I might...

VAN SUSTEREN:  Go ahead, Kate

SHEEHY:  Excuse me.  I might add that he also told the authorities that he had gone
fishing for sturgeon.  And that immediately prompted more suspicion because even the
most seasoned fishermen, the police sources said, would not typically
go fishing for that
type of feisty variety alone, which Scott says he did.

VAN SUSTEREN:  Go ahead, Howard.  I'll give you the last word on this.

BREUER:  Well, I was going to say if you look at what Scott actually told authorities about
why did he come home and as soon as he got there wash his clothes instead of returning
a phone call, and he said -- and you know, he said to the
TV cameras, he said, well, because
he had salt water on him.  And I would think that if he was going fishing for this large,
angry, fighting fish, that -- you know, where's the bait guts?Where's the fish?  You know,
where's the smelly fish?  You know, just a little bit of salt water going out for, you know,
this big -- it all sounds like a fish story to me. I'm sorry.

Peterson's friend, Mike Richardson, told NBC's "Today" show last month that he
attributed the color change to chlorine in a swimming pool. "
I asked him if he dyed
his hair or something
," Richardson said. "And he said that he was swimming in a
friend's pool, and it got bleached
."
