DAILY TIDBIT – JANEY STOP!
August 31, 2004

When Scott Peterson's sister-in-law Janey Peterson arrived in court today, she was stopped
at the door by the bailiff. Janey apparently didn't bring the correct pass to get into the courtroom
today. The bailiff would not let her in. He's a very nice guy, but newly assigned to this courtroom
so he doesn't recognize all the usual players. His supervisor, Sgt. Marc Dowdy then stepped in.
He is a strongly built man that oversees security. He is a regular at the Peterson
trial and KNOWS
Janey Peterson,
but he also did not let her in. Usually, immediate family members are allowed
right in – pass or no pass. But obviously Sgt. Dowdy is by the book, by the rules, no exceptions.
Janey then broke into tears. One reporter overheard
Jackie Peterson saying the family's stress
level has been so high for the past 2 years, Janey was just overcome with emotions.
In the end, the Sergeant let Janey into the courtroom.

During lunchtime, a reporter asked Janey about it. She was light-hearted and very polite about
the whole thing:
"I just got scolded, that's all. Got in trouble." Janey's father Tom Katsis attended
the trial today and was right by his daughter's side, very supportive of her. But he had some
more sarcastic words for the sergeant:
"I think he was just being good on security. He didn't
recognize Janey because she's been here for 4 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS!"
And then like a
typical daughter, when they feel a little embarrassed about their overprotecting father,
"Dad, stop." A small smile came back on Janey's face after an emotional start to the morning.
