Scott's  jury selection  - Four more added

Jury selection  progressed slowly this morning as two new potential jurors
were added, raising the jury pool to an even 60.

-JUROR 23903, a middle-aged female housewife, who works at home, was thrown into the
mix after a short question-and-answer period with the judge, prosecution and defense.

That potential juror said she believed Scott Peterson to be innocent until
proven guilty, adding however there was a suspicion with Peterson.

"I have not made up my mind," she told the prosecution, then saying,
"We wouldn't be here if there wasn't suspicion."

Despite that feeling, she was accepted along with Juror 23874.

JUROR #3 was -JUROR 23874
A woman who appears to be white or Latina and in her 30s. She works for a county agency
determining eligibility for public assistance. Investigators who work for her agency are sworn
peace officers, but one of her sisters is a former Santa Clara County public defender. "I tend to
really want to do what's in the best interest of whoever it is I'm serving," she said when asked
about being a fair juror.  She is working on her master's degree, and said she came into
the trial with no preconceived notions about Scott's innocence and could be a fair juror.
She said if one of her own family members was on trial, she would want
someone like herself on the jury because she has no biases.

Two jurors accepted in the afternoon session, numbers 24031 and 10052, both said they
should be able to serve on the jury, although it could affect their income.

JUROR 24031, a middle-aged handyman, said he has been saving money, even before he
received his juror notification, and should be fine.   He  told the court he does a lot of
fishing. Telling them that evidence involving fishing  will play a part in this case.
Geragos made the man describe the areas in which he has fished.)

JUROR 10052, a middle-aged man in the food service industry, said he still was not
sure if he would get paid from his employer, but was working on the situation.

Five other prospective jurors were excused for various reasons.

How large the jury pool will have to be still has yet to be resolved. Judge Alfred Delucchi said Tuesday a
juror pool of 150 people may be needed to find the final jury because of the request by the defense for
extra peremptory challenges. The challenges allow lawyers to excuse possible jurors in the final stage
of selection without giving a reason. Each side currently has 20 to use in seating the 12-member panel.

Opening statements in the  trial have already been delayed twice, and are now set to begin June 1..
