| LACI & CONNER MAY THEY REST IN PEACE |
| Aug. 20, 2003 The bodies of Laci Peterson and her unborn son will be released to family members by Friday, according to court documents. The bodies have been held at the Contra Costa County Coroner's office since washing ashore in April along the San Francisco Bay. According to court documents released this week, A radiologist was sent to X-ray the remainsof Laci and her unborn son to bolster the defense's contention that the fetus lived pastChristmas Eve, the day police say Laci's husband, Scott, killed her in their home. The defense-hired radiologist went to the criminalistics laboratory of the Contra Costa County coroner in Martinez to take the X-rays under law-enforcement supervision, sources said. Defense experts in the double-murder case will compare the X-rays with Laci Peterson's Dec. 23 sonogram. If the experts conclude the fetus continued to live and grow past Christmas Eve, the day Laci disappeared, that could undermine the police theory that Peterson murdered his wife in the couple's home Dec. 23 or 24. Laci Peterson's family held a public memorial service May 4 in Modesto. They have postponed funeral plans while authorities worked to determine a cause of death. It was unclear Wednesday whether funeral arrangements had been made. A spokeswoman for Laci's family, Kim Petersen, said the family had no comment. *********************** LACI & CONNER LAID TO REST HOME INDEX LACI SCOTT EVIDENCE-NEWS CONNER TRIAL NEWS LACI'S FAMILY |
