| AUGUST 14, 2003 LEE PETERSON SERVED WITH SUBPOENA Scott Peterson's father, Lee Peterson, said after Thursday's hearing that he had been served with a subpoena by prosecutors. He accused them of trying to make him subject to the court's gag order and keep him from talking about the case. "They want me under the gag order," he said. "They don't like us saying our son is innocent." A preliminary hearing of the evidence against Scott Peterson will be open to the press and public, a judge ruled Thursday in overruling defense objections that it would prejudice potential jurors in Peterson's double-murder trial. Peterson, 30, is charged with the murder of his 27-year-old wife, Laci Peterson, and the couple's unborn son. The victims' bodies washed up on a Richmond shoreline in April.
