The sensational charge was fueled by the release of a portion of the autopsy report on Conner, which said that a piece of tape was looped around his neck. It led to speculation that the child had been cut from Laci's womb. The NE has found out the defense theory is not supported by any credible evidence. "We have no baby sacrifices here", Kim Lohman, co-owner of Whispered Prayers, an occult store in Modesto, Calif., where witches and pagans shop. She told NE "we have no missing babies either." "If anyone or any group was offering sacrifices there would be a lot more people missing." Rick Ross, founder and executive director of the Ross Institute- a nationally recognized authority on the occult and cult organizations- told the NE, "The defense theory that Laci was abducted for her unborn son to be sacrificed in a satanic ritual is absolutely ridiculous." "Stories about roving satanists searching for blood to be spilled on their altars are nowrelegated to the catergory of urban myth." Mark Geragos announced he had the names of 5 men who had been in the Peterson neighboorhood on Dec.24th in a tan van and were members of a satanic cult. One of them even had the number 666 on a tatoo, according to the defense team. Ross pointed out, "Cult killers leave their calling card. The Manson Family left graffiti all over the walls using their victims' blood. There is no such forensic evidence in this case. "The murder of Laci doesn't fit any kind of satanic cult killing." Laci's father Dennis Rocha, told a friend that police have assured the family there is no physical evidence to support a satanic cult theory. Dennis told me, "The evidence points to Scott.", the friend revealed. Laci's family was told the evidence is consistenet with the baby having been expelled from the womb a CONSIDERABLE TIME after she was dumped in the bay. When the fetus came ashore it was immediately identified as a male child. The body was not that decomposed. The NE has also learned that Laci's womb was intact when her torso came ashore. "Had the baby been taken by a satanic ritual, her womb would have been cut."
