December 2003 by Don Gentile and David Wright That's the rage filled phone message Laci Peterson's mother, Sharon Rocha left for her son-in- law, Scott, the day before his arrest on murder charges, reveals a source close to the case. The NE has learned that the distraught mom's call wasn't just a spur of the moment burst of anger.It was a part of a secret police plan in which Sharon Rocha played a key role in nabbing the cheating husband accused of murdering her beloved daughter Laci. In an incredible twist, Modesto police enlisted Sharon Rocha and other friends and relatives to ensnare Scott in a web of his own lies and contradicitions, an inside source told the NE. "When police began to suspect Scott in the days after Laci disappeared, they went to Sharon and other members of the family and told them "to pepper Scott with phone calls." "They wanted any bit of information that would help them build their case against Scott." The idea was to rattle Scott so he would slip-up and reveal details that could put him behind bars. The police urged the family and friends to keep asking Scott what he thought happened to his wife and why he didn't tell anyone he bought a boat- which investigators suspect he used to get rid of his wife's body. Investigators wanted them to hit Scott with questions about what she was wearing the last time he saw her. The LE also asked the family to gauge his mood as he responded to their questions. Sharon Rocha was a tremendous help. "She choreographed her family's participation, suggesting different points that Laci's brother Brent and Laci's girlfriends should ask Scott. "Sharon's phone call asking Scott why he killed Laci was done to shake him up." So was a call from Brent who boldy demanded "Where's my sister?" Laci's good friend Stacey Bowers also helped police build a case against Scott. Stacey made sure she saw Scott nearly every day in the weeks after Laci disappeared, revealed a family insider. Stacey gathered a lot of information for police on how Scott was acting during the all-out search for Laci, how he spent his time and how he didn't seem to be grieving all that much." Right after Laci was found a detective called Scott and said in a scary way, "Scott we found Laci. It's all over Pal." During the investigation LE planted seeds of doubt in the minds of Peterson's friends Brian Argain, Aaron Fritz and Mike and Heather Richardson. All of Scott friends were asked to question Scott and turn over information to the police. LE encouraged Mike Richardson to question Scott about Laci's disappearance and also about an article in the newspaper reporting Scott had taken out a life insurance policy on Laci.
