| From: RICKAMORTI1 Sep-25, 2003 CONVICT: SCOTT PETERSON PLOTTED WITH TWO HITMAN TO MURDER LACI NLR- MURDER, EXTORTION AND DRUGS National Enquirer - Oct 7, 2003 by Don Gentile and Michael Hanrahan New picture: of strip club, nazi low riders logo synopsis Scott Peterson met with two neo-Nazi gang members to arrange the murder of his pregnant wife Laci! That is the shocking claim of California convict Cory Lee Carroll, whose lawyer says he passed a lie detector test confirming the murder for hire story. And an NE investigation has uncovered exclusive details of the alleged plot. Scott told his mistress Amber Frey, "I didn't do anything to Laci, but I know who did." He was referring to Laci's disappearance. Now Carroll's story of neo-Nazi hit men could throw new light on that cryptic comment. Carroll, 34, a Fresno motel maintenance worker with a record for theft and possession of stolen checks- allegedly met Peterson at the City Lights strip club in Fresno last November, the same month Peterson began his affair in Fresno with Amber. As Peterson and Carroll ogled the strippers and played pool, Scott learned that his drinking buddy had a criminal record. Peterson wanted to know if Carroll knew anyone who would steal Laci's car so Scott could fraudulently collect on an insurance claim. Carroll accepted $300 from Peterson, according to Carroll's attorney Frank Muna. The two had several phone conversations after their first meeting. And Muna says that on November 29, Peterson came to a Fresno motel room Carroll rented to meet two friends of the jailbird, "Skeeter" and "Dirty", members of the Nazi Low Riders, a vicious racist gang whose members are well known in the California prison system. Muna claims Carroll told him he left the motel room when he realized Peterson didn't want his wife's car stolen- he wanted his wife kidnapped. Carroll had no doubt that Scott wanted to hire the neo Nazis to do away with his wife. Carroll also revealed that Skeeter and Dirty were known to drive a beige van and camper combo with orange stripes. A witness reported she saw a tan van parked across the street from Laci's home the morning of Dec.24, the day Laci disappeared. According to state records, Carroll was jailed last December before Laci went missing and did not get out till July. Muna said his client was unaware that Laci had disappeared and her body had later been found because the jail he was in was in lock down, meaning inmates never got to see the news or read newspapers. Carroll contacted Muna when he got out of jail and Muna had him take a lie detector test, which he passed. Lead detective Craig Grogan and D.A. investigator Kevin Bertalotto met with Carroll in a Fresno jail, where he is locked up on a parole violation. They cannot comment becasue of the gag order in the case. Carroll wants nothing for coming forward in the case. There are problems with his story however. Scott's relatives say he was nowhere near Fresno on Friday Nov. 29. Three days earlier, Scott was at Disneyland with Laci. The next day, the 27th, Scott's relatives threw Laci a baby shower. The 28th was Thanksgiving. Laci and Scott celebrated the holiday with his family in San Diego. On the 29th, the relatives say Laci and Scott left for their home in Modesto, an eight hour drive- although that does not rule out the possiblity that he drove to the Fresno motel after dropping off Laci at home. Russ Heimerich, a spokesman for the California Department of corrections, told the NE that Carroll was in jail on a parole violation from last Dec. 10, 2003 to July 2, 2003 but he was not in a lockdown situation. He was in two correctional facilities that are privately run, housing low to minimum risk prisoners. In another new development in the case, The NE has learned that police divers recovered an anchor in San Francisco Bay that they believe was used to weigh down Laci's body. As the NE has previously reported, cops believed Peterson made 5 anchors and he could only account for two of them. On Sept 19, 2003 LE divers returned to the bay "to look for another anchor."
