Scott Peterson's parents arrive for holiday
December 25, 2003

Scott Peterson's parents waved to people in cars slowing
in front of their son's  Modesto
home as the Petersons arrived
in a steady drizzle Wednesday afternoon.

Lee and Jackie Peterson make periodic trips from San Diego County
to see their son in the Stanislaus County
Jail, and stay in his home on Covena Avenue.

Lee Peterson said he and his wife hoped to visit their son today.

The 31-year-old former fertilizer salesman is accused in the slayings of his
pregnant wife and their unborn son on Christmas Eve 2002 or the night before.

"The kid should not be in jail," Lee Peterson said Wednesday,
predicting eventual victory in court.

The double-murder trial is scheduled to start Jan. 26. "It's been a year,"
a somber but cordial Lee Peterson continued.

"You can't imagine how hard it is on the family."

The family of Scott Peterson's wife, Laci, co-sponsored a blood drive Sunday
through Tuesday in lieu of any other public event commemorating
the one-year anniversary of her death.

Delta Blood Bank reported taking in 350 pints of blood in the special drive,
conducted at Beyer High School in Modesto.
