| Did anyone hear about this golf buddy? A KOVR 13 EXCLUSIVE. A VALLEY GOLFER MAY BE SHEDDING NEW LIGHT ON HOW SCOTT PETERSON FELT ABOUT BEING A MARRIED MAN. THE GOLFER SAYS HE MEET SCOTT ON THE GREEN TWO YEARS AGO WHERE SCOTT TALKED ABOUT HIS MARRIAGE AND IN- LAWS. BUT, COULD SCOTT'S GOLF GAME CHAT HAVE PROSECUTORS TAKING A SWING AT SOME NEW EVIDENCE? ======== Golfer Comes Forward Modesto police are interested in the story of a man who says he had a disturbing conversation with Scott Peterson during a round of golf two years ago. Johnny Pantoja says he thinks the man he was playing with was Scott Peterson. He says Peterson complained about his marriage and his wife's side of the family, "He mentioned that he had got married too soon. He wasn't quite sure about his marriage and where it was heading." Pantoja says, "He smashed the ball and pretty much said that he's wished it was one of his in-laws when he smashed the ball." Pantoja isn't 100% sure the man he spoke to was Scott Peterson, but investigators would still like to speak with him. I looked *everywhere* trying to find that name. I finally figured out it was Pantoja and emailed them, but I think it was probably after this version of the story was posted. Maybe not. All I saw was a very brief blurb about the interview with Gloria Gomez. ANYWAY! Here's the "hinky" thing about this story. There was also a man named Johnny Pantoja who was IN THE COURTROOM when Scott made his appearance on Monday afternoon! This Johnny Pantoja was awaiting a civil trial in which he was a participant (don't know which side) and it was postponed because of the Scotty hoopla. Pantoja made some statements. I'll quote them in a minute. Also, "this" Johnny Pantoja lives in Lindsay, down near Tulare and Visalia, south of Fresno. He's 38 and has also lived in Ceres and Modesto. OK, two story excerpts about him: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [From the Fresno Bee, Mon, 4/22/03] "Johnny Pantoja of Lindsay got a pass after his civil case was postponed for a day. 'I want to take a look at his face,' said Pantoja, a 38-year-old caregiver. When it was over, Pantoja said Peterson seemed arrogant, 'almost as if he had convinced himself that he's not guilty.' However, the Lindsay man also said he was amazed by Peterson's poise." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [From the Oakland Tribune, 4/23/03] "Only a few people were allowed into the courtroom because of limited space. That didn't stop spectators and the media from trying. One man was offered $500 for his courtroom pass, but he didn't accept. 'I'm going to go back to Lindsay, and put it into my Bible,' Johnny Pantoja said." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think it's kind of hinky to now find out that this same guy (or, *coincidentally,* someone of the same name) played golf with Scott and knew all these personal details. Was he holding this info back with the newspaper reporters on Monday? Or did he decide later, with the cute TV gal, that passing up $500 wasn't a good idea and maybe he needed to recoup?
