| He joined KTVU in December of 2001 and reports for the "KTVU Morning News," "Morning's on 2," and "The KTVU Channel 2 News at Noon." Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Rowlands graduated with a degree in Broadcast Communications from the University of Wisconsin in 1991. Rowlands spent much of his first few years of television broadcasting working as a sports anchor and reporter before becoming the morning news anchor for KBJR in Duluth, Minnesota. Yearning for warmer weather, he headed to the California and has been working his way up the coast with years of reporting in Bakersfield, Salinas, San Jose, and now the entire Bay Area with KTVU. Having traveled the world as a reporter, Rowlands is best known for his tenacious reporting skills. In January 2001, Rowlands flew with the United States Air Force and delivered relief supplies to the people of India just hours following a devastating 7.9 earthquake. In July 1999, Yosemite tourists murderer Cary Stayner confessed to Rowlands in an exclusive jailhouse interview. While reporting on Barry Bonds record 73rd homerun, Ted found himself being thrown to the bottom of the human dog pile of fans scurrying at the chance to get their hands on the historic ball. Rowlands has led the KTVU investigation of the Laci Peterson murder case and continues to report the unfolding news as it occurs. Ted was one of the few reporters whom Scott Peterson entrusted enough to grant an exclusive interview in his home about the disappearance of his wife and their unborn son, Conner. Because Ted Rowlands has become such an authority on this case he has become a regular expert commentator on CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC in addition to his work for KTVU. Because of his interview he received a subpoena from the Prosecution. As a morning reporter, he provides hourly live coverage on the days top news stories When asked about reporting at KTVU, Rowlands responded, "It's great to be part of not only the best but the most respected news team in the Bay Area!" Outside of work, Rowlands is an avid sports fan, loves to play golf, play ice hockey, and snow ski. He resides in Oakland with his wife and daughter. UPDATE 3/5/04 - Since Ted is now an employee of CNN, he will be moving to either Washington D.C. or to Atlanta, GA TRIAL NEWS HOME INDEX LACI SCOTT EVIDENCE-NEWS ALIBI-WITNESS LIST |
