| KTVU-TV to fight subpoena in Peterson case February 17, 2004 A San Francisco Bay area television station will fight a subpoena for one of its reporters to testify in Scott Peterson's double-murder trial. Ted Rowlands, a reporter for KTVU-TV, was subpoenaed by prosecutors to testify about several televised interviews he had with Peterson in the days following his wife's disappearance. KTVU lawyers say state law shields journalists from such subpoenas. "The district attorney's subpoena runs afoul of the California constitution and evidence code, which grant journalists a broadly defied immunity from the compelled disclosure of any unpublished information obtained during the course of gathering and disseminating information to the public," wrote lawyer Grace Won in court documents. Judge Alfred A. Delucchi said in court Tuesday he would hear arguments on the issue later. UPDATE 3/5/04 - THE PROSECUTION HAS EXCLUDED TED ROWLANDS FROM HIS SUBPOENA AND WILL USE HIS TELEVISED INTERVIEW IN COURT. TED ROWLANDS HAS SINCE LEFT KTVU-TV AND IS NOW WORKING FOR CNN.
