| An annoyed Peterson speaks out in court July 26, 2003 Scott Peterson lashed out at prosecutors Thursday, telling a judge in rare court comments that the district attorney's slow pace of turning over evidence to his lawyers left him no choice but to consent to a two-month delay in his double-murder case. "I think we are forced to without the information coming from the prosecution," said Peterson in a loud voice tinged with annoyance when asked by Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Al Girolami if he agreed to the postponement, a pro forma question that normally elicits a curt "Yes" from a defendant. "It's not my wish, but yes," he added when pressed further. Peterson's grudging agreement to moving his preliminary hearing from July to September was the most he has said publicly since his April arrest for the murder of his pregnant wife and unborn son. ********** POSTER'S RESPOND From: SZUNDI2 Jun-26, 2003 I watched the whole thing today. "SNOT" acted like a snot in answering the judge. He was asked asimple question that required a 'yes' or 'no' answer. I was a little surprised that the judge didn't admonish him and say to him, 'just answer the question Mr. Peterson, yes or no". Snotty Scotty did not win any points today. He appeared angry and insolent. I hope the judge remembers this incident and cuts him down to size if the opportunity arises. **************** From: Pati (SHAMROCKGIRL) Jun-26, 2003 I agree Scotty sounded like a spoiled brat. He was po'd for sure....awwwwww *********** From: CATNIP2001 Jun-26, 2003 I thought his cockyness spoke volumes about him. And, if you watch the replays (I didn't catch it the first time) it appeared to me as if Geragos was sort of encouraging him -he looked at him and nodded his head! *********** From: JUDYW10 Jun-26, 2003 I just saw the shot on Dan Abrams show. So, who does Scott think is holding up the proceedings? His lawyer isn't pushing for a a quick prelimhearing, or for a date for the trial. Evidently Mark G. has told Scott that the defense doesn't have all the evidence. I thought it was odd that Scott whined about the prelim hearing date. ********** From: AYELEAN Jun-27, 2003 If Geragos allowed him, even looked like he encouraged him, maybe he will take the stand! I hope the Judge took note of the tone of his voice. He was downright disrespectful court-wise for not addressing the Judge as in, "your honor". I almost got a kick out of the 'lawyerness' one of his voice. Let hope it made the same impression on his honor! ********** HOME INDEX LACI SCOTT AMBER EVIDENCE & NEWS DEFENSE INCONSISTENT STATEMENTS PROSECUTION |
