| When Amy Rocha, Laci's younger sister of six years, came to the stand, she testified that Laci was wearing cream pants and a black top with cream flowers or polka dots at Salon Salon, where she sat while Scott got his hair cut. On the day Laci disappeared, Scott said she was wearing black pants and a white shirt. But when her body washed ashore in April her pants were khaki, according to forensic experts. Rocha said the usually chatty Laci Peterson was relatively subdued that night. The two sisters, who Rocha said were close, talked about a gift basket they had ordered to give to their grandfather at Christmas. Scott offered to pick it up the next day before the store closed because he said he'd be in the area golfing. But Rocha testified that he never did, forcing her to rush there to pick it up before they shut their doors for Christmas Eve. Scott told police he initially planned to go golfing the day his wife disappeared but decided that morning to go fishing instead because it was too cold, a detective testified at Peterson's preliminary hearing. Shortly after returning home from the store, Rocha got a call from Scott that Laci was missing. Rocha sped to the couple's house, she said, where carloads of panicked friends and family arrived to help with the search for her sister. "We were all frantic," she recalled. Rick Distaso showed Rocha a pair of tan maternity pants in court Thursday and asked her if they were the same ones she last saw Laci wearing. Amy said they were similar in color, material and length. But under cross- examination by Peterson's attorney Mark Geragos, she agreed that the pants Laci was wearing that night didn't have the "line or the cuff" of the ones shown in court. "In your interview with Modesto police Detective Craig Grogan, you said they were not the pants," Geragos told Rocha. "I said they were close," she replied. It appeared the pants Distaso produced in court where a pair investigators had ordered from the clothing manufacturer identified through the model number and tag on the pants found on Peterson's remains. When Distaso asked her if her sister had ever told her about the boat Scott had purchased on Dec. 9, 2002, Rocha said no. She also said she had no knowledge of Scott 's affair with Amber. The defense, who maintains that Laci Peterson may have been abducted by men driving a van while she was walking her dog in the park, is scheduled to cross examine Rocha on Monday.
