Susan Aquino: Laci's aunt -- testified
Wed. June 9, 2004

Susan Aquino, (sister of Sharon Rocha), Laci Peterson's aunt stated she received a
call that Laci was missing and she immediately went to the home of her niece.

She stayed with her sister to help calm her down during the turmoil of the evening.
The next morning while at Laci's, the police arrived to tell Scott of possible sightings of Laci.

She heard two police officers tell Scott  that two witnesses had seen his wife walking across a bridge
in a nearby park. Scott said, "That wasn't Laci; she doesn't go around there,'" Aquino recalled.

After the police left Scott showed no interest in the  possible sightings of Laci
saying, "That wasn't Laci," Aquino  testified at his murder trial this afternoon.

Aquino, said she was "excited that somebody had seen" the missing woman after
police officers gave the potentially good news to Scott  about noon Christmas 2002,
during a massive search. But he immediately ignored the report.

The testimony helped prosecutors because it showed Peterson
brushed off information he should ostensibly have been interested in.

The officers said two people reported seeing the 27-year-old substitute
teacher on a footbridge. Aquino didn't specify the location.

Defense attorney Mark Geragos did not cross-examine Aquino at length, apparently
content that he didn't have to after she confused Christmas Eve with Christmas.
