| This is somebody who had everything and threw it away," prosecutor Dave Harris said, pointing at Peterson as the convicted murderer sat stiffly at the defense table and intently watched the jury. "He had a plan and he executed it." In his 40-minute closing argument, Harris also reminded jurors that Thursday marked the two-year anniversary of Peterson's "monstrous plan" to murder his wife, Laci. "Two years ago today, the defendant, Scott Peterson, bought a boat," Harris said. "He told (his mistress) Amber Frey his wife was 'lost.'" Harris asked the jury to deliver the ultimate penalty on Peterson. "Leaving his wife's body to rot on the bottom of the ocean. Leaving his son to be found as trash in the debris," said Harris. "That is not something that should be rewarded by sparing his life." QUOTES "The defendant gets to sit in a cell. He's alive. He gets to write, read books, write letters, have letters — all things Laci and Conner can't, all things Laci's family would love to share with Laci and Conner. Death is worse than life." "He lies, he fools, he manipulates. He's not a person who deserves your sympathy." "He laughed at his own mother. He laughed at the people helping him. He laughed at everyone." "You heard it over and over: 'If you execute him, it will kill Lee (Peterson), it will kill Jackie (Peterson), it will kill the family. Well, the person responsible is right there, right there. That's the one who's responsible." Dave Harris, jabbing a finger toward Scott Peterson. "Somebody who came from a privileged, somewhat spoiled background. Someone who had everything and threw it away." "No matter how the defendant tried to dispose of them, treated them as garbage to be dumped in the bay, their memories will live on."
