| June 9, 2004 Sandy Rickard, a spiky-haired woman who is Sharon Rocha's best friend, said Sharon was hysterical when the two drove to the park to search. After searching for an hour, Rickard said Peterson approached her on the lawn in front of his house Christmas Eve night. "What did he say to you that night?" asked Distaso. "He put up his hands and said 'I wouldn't be surprised if they found blood in my truck. I'm a hunter, a fisherman ...' I don't remember exactly what he said," replied Rickard. Defense attorney Pat Harris attacked Rickard's recollection, and asked her why she did not tell the police her story until a month and a half later. Rickard, her face tightening a bit under Harris' aggressive tone, said she remembered the incident in February after she, Sharon and other friends got together and tried to make a list of their memories of what happened that night. After Harris finished his angry cross-examination, a couple of male jurors in the top row looked at each other and grimaced. HOME INDEX LACI SCOTT TRIAL ALIBI-WITNESS LIST INCONSISTENT STATEMENTS |
