| Prosecutors Have Been Ordered To Give Recorded Calls To The Peterson Defense May 27, 2003 Wiretapped phone calls between Scott Peterson and his lawyer will be turned over to the defense. That's the key ruling after a hearing in Modesto. Once again, Scott Peterson has a new look! He showed up in court with shorter, darker hair and a new suit. First on the agenda: Whether to unseal search warrants and autopsy reports. "I'll take it under submission, my tenative Miss Kenyon though it's very likely gonna be sealed at least until the preliminary hearing so you can plan accordingly," said Judge Al Girolami. Defense attorney Kirk McAlister had 69 of his phone calls with Scott Peterson intercepted by a court-approved wiretap ordered by the prosecution. "Once we see exactly what was taped then we'll file whatever appropriate motions. Until we see what's there we really don't know what we're gonna do," said defense attorney Mark Geragos. The judge ordered the wiretap information turned over to the defense. Gloria Allred, the attorney for Amber Frey , was also in court as an observer. "I think the defense is treading on dangerous ground if they try in anyway to damage her reputation or place innacurate statements in the media," said Allred who says she's in Modesto to meet with the prosecution. The judge will decide next month if the media will have access to wiretap information and in July he'll lay out media coverage for the trial. "We're not going to comment on whether or not we believe the protective order would or should not be issued, the judge is interested in that, he's asked for our legal briefs on it, we certainly will provide that," said John Goold, a chief deputy district attorney for Stanislaus County. The judge will hear more on the wiretapping controversy, and July 16th is set aside for the preliminary trial. HOME LACI ALIBI-WITNESS LIST WIRETAPS INDEX EVIDENCE-NEWS PROSECUTION-DEFENSE PICTURES |
