RANDY L. GRIFFIN October 4, 2004 Prosecutors called a U.S. Postal inspector to testify about how Scott Peterson filed a change of address form on Jan. 30, 2003, several months before the bodies were discovered. Randy L. Griffin, described his duties for the United States Postal Service as investigating various criminal activities relating to the mail, such as assaults of postal employees or burglaries of U.S. Postal facilities. He is also a Custodian of Records, finding and providing records for court which have been subpoenaed. He can then testify at trial about the accuracy of the documents. According to the form, Peterson sought to have his mail forwarded from the couple's home to a Mailboxes, Etc., box, said Griffin. Another form submitted on the same day, sought to have his mail forwarded from his business to the same mailbox. Peterson established the private mailbox on Dec. 23, a day before his wife vanished, Griffin said. On cross-examination, Geragos noted that mail had been stolen from Peterson's home and office mailboxes prior to his filing the change of address forms. Mr. Griffin could not confirm or deny that.
