September 20, 2004 The prosecution played more audiotapes for the jury today. This time between Detective Craig Grogan and Scott Peterson. 2 short conversations recorded by the detective on December 30, 2002 - Six days after Laci Peterson vanished. From audio to video … late this afternoon, the prosecution showed a videotape of Scott Peterson being interviewed at the Modesto Police Department on January, 3, 2003. *** On this video, the detective confronts Peterson about his affair and flashed a picture of him his girlfriend, Amber Frey. On the tape, you could see Peterson shaking his head side to side. The detective, narrating the videotape, testified that Peterson denied it was him and said: "Is that supposed to be me?" Detective Grogan also said Peterson told him that the female in the picture looked like a girl he went to college with, but the man in the picture wasn't him. It was another boldface lie caught on tape. Sept. 21 — THE HEAT IS ON From Amber Frey to Detective Craig Grogan; another person starts pressuring Scott Peterson in a secretly recorded telephone call. One of the lead detectives on the case took the stand for a second day in a row. The prosecution played an audiotape between him and Peterson, recorded on January 29, 2003, about a month after Laci vanished. On the tape, Peterson continues to deny any involvement in his wife's disappearance and was hysterically crying during the call. At one point, it appeared the detective was worried Peterson might commit suicide. ABC's Diane Sawyer also turned up the heat during an interview with Scott Peterson in January 2003. She asked him point blank about his affair and if he had anything to do with Laci's murder. The Diane Sawyer interview was 1 of 3 videotapes played for the jury on Tuesday. They were all interviews Peterson did with the media. On the tape with Diane Sawyer, the jury saw Peterson breakdown in tears about his wife. It was obvious Juror #8 didn't buy it...
