| August 2, 2004 Turlock officer Kipp Loving told jurors in the Scott Peterson trial that he participated in a Feb. 18, 2003 search of defendant's home. During a brief, cryptic direct examination, Loving said that while he was in the house a television lost reception and that subsequently he called the satellite provider. When Harris completed his questioning without making the significance of the testimony clear, several jurors gave him quizzical looks and a handful scowled. On cross-examinations, the subject of the television remained murky. Loving said he had talked to the satellite television company three days before the search and called them at one point to inquire about a broadcast of the Martha Stewart Living program. Peterson told police he and his wife watched the program together the day she disappeared.
