MAN WHO SOLD BOAT TO SCOTT TESTIFIES
Wednesday, July 7, 2004

In the afternoon, the jury heard from the man who sold the boat and a large tarp to Scott Peterson.

Bruce Peterson – testified that two people could easily fit in the boat, and  testified that
he had used the boat for trout fishing in fresh water lakes and that he and his wife were
often positioned on the same side or section of the boat while he was catching fish.

In prior questioning The couple who sold Peterson the boat, Bruce and Christine Peterson,
were asked by police to look over the boat after it was confiscated. The Petersons, who are
no relation to Scott Peterson, told KPIX they noticed the residue in the bottom of the boat.

”There was only one life jacket,” said Bruce Peterson. “That was one of the first things
we saw was that there was only one life jacket.” Peterson said he also noticed that
auxiliary wheels used to haul the boat in and out of the water were missing.

{From the Modesto Bee}
"We sold it to him (Scott) on Dec 9, 2002, Bruce (Peterson) said.
We negotiated the sale price and he came back the next morning
with the cash,  after the banks opened, and (he) bought the boat."
Laci's family says  what they find strange about the boat is, that as far
as they knew, Scott never told Laci about it.  And Scott told them later,
he was saving the boat as a surprise for Christmas Day. But Bruce
Peterson says Scott never mentioned anything about the boat being a
surprise for Laci,  or anyone else for that matter. }

Questions have been raised about how Scott Peterson could have possibly
dumped his wife's body out of the boat without tipping it over.
