| LACI & CONNER PRAY FOR JUSTICE |
| APRIL 2003 Greg Reid met Scott Peterson about a year ago through the Rotary Club. The two men became friends, and would talk a few times a week and periodically meet for drinks. Kristen Reid and Laci Peterson, who were both pregnant, developed a friendship through their husbands. Reid said he never saw anything that would indicate the Petersons were having any kind of marital trouble, and he said Scott never mentioned his affair with Amber Frey, a single mom from Fresno. "They were fun to be around," Greg Reid said on ABCNEWS' Good Morning America. "They both seemed extremely excited, as we were. We were both having our first babies at the same time or quite close to the same time. We were both planning on basically raising them together since we both lived here in Modesto and in the same neighborhood," He said. Now Kristen, whose due date was a few weeks ahead of Laci's, is the mother of a son named Connor, the same name Laci had chosen for her unborn son. They say they're not sure what to think of Scott Peterson's arrest last week. Greg said he last spoke to Scott on Christmas Eve, hours before Laci was reported missing. Reid said Scott called him from his cell phone to firm up New Year's Eve plans they had. "On the afternoon he called from his mobile phone to mine, and we had spoke probably once or twice a week, so it wasn't a phone call that I would see as unordinary. He sounded chipper and looking forward to getting together," He said. Reid said Scott never mentioned that he had been fishing that day, but he said he didn't find it unusual since it was a short conversation. Later that day, the Reids heard from Scott again, but his demeanor had changed. "It went from a wonderful celebration of Christmas to a frantic voice mail message from Scott that evening looking for Laci, wondering if I had talked to her that morning," Kristen said. Kristen said she and Greg wanted to help in any way they could since Laci had been so good to them after Kristen gave birth. Laci had visited Kristen at home and even brought her soup. But when Kristen tried to return the favor to Scott, after Laci was reported missing, she said she was ignored. "I made a big pot of chicken soup, and I tried — I didn't know how he Scott was doing for food or what was going on," Kristen said. "So I offered and he didn't call back, which was OK. I did run by the house and he had apologized for not calling back. The communication did stop after that. We don't know exactly why, but he had a lot going on. That's all we can figure," she said. The Reids say they have not tried to get in touch with Scott since Modesto Police arrested him in San Diego, only days after the bodies of Laci and her unborn son washed ashore in San Francisco Bay, three miles from where Peterson said he was fishing Christmas Eve. "Scott is definitely in a difficult position," Greg Reid said. "There's a lot of information that we're not even being provided that we're not seeing. So the only decision I think, speaking for both of us, is that we just hope that justice prevails and every piece of information and evidence that's available is provided."
